Romance Trailer - The Fault In Our Stars

Opening titles are immediately shown as well as our first establishing shot being a starry night, this romantic setting is cliche. A voice over of a girl accompanies this as she proceeds to talk about her love for a man, we are then introduced to him through a range of close up shots of them together and kissing. Therefore the audience know that the story line is about this young couple. An extreme close up of her eyes shutting then fades into another panning shot of this girl pulling along an oxygen tank. Upbeat music is being played at this time alongside her voice over. Audiences begin to wonder what is happening and want to find more out about her welfare so their attention is firmly stuck onto the trailer. A medium 2 shot of the couple we saw at the beginning meeting shows the audience that the film will include every part of their relationship including the romantic development. Diegetic music starts to play as the titles appear saying "Based on Best Selling Novel" this attracts audience to watch the film also. Once the audience realise these two have suffered/ currently suffering from cancer they feel empathy and are more emotionally invested therefore are more likely to watch the film. The upbeat trailer then changes for the worst, the lighting darkens and the music become more dramatic as the main girl is rushed to hospital. Final part of the trailer becomes happier as is shows the couple again in a variety of medium and long shots as they spend each day with each other. The trailer ends with positive music playing.
