Conventions of Film Posters
Films poster are made to create awareness of the film and advertise it. Typical conventions include a large picture of main character with the title of the film looking dominant and clear, most posters also contain release date, actors names and occasionally the directors name. The poster must be eye catching and stand out from all the rest so use of colours are important, different genres use different kinds of colours for example, horror tends to stay with the dark gloomy colours whereas a romance film poster will contain soft pastel and red colours, as this connotes love. Certain posters include reviews, this is effective as the audience trust the rating and believe it is going to be good.
